Happy Halloween!

I am not one for celebrating big for Halloween, let alone making or sending cards out for this holiday. When I saw this stairstep card and was challenged to make a Halloween theme card on another site - it was on! Here is my Halloween themed stairstep card.

I don't have the complete "recipe" for this card, but here are the measurements - I just saw the card posted and used the measurements the poster gave and it worked great...!

Cardstock (Beige), 4¼” x 9”, scored @ 1 ½”, 3”, 5”, 7”
Cardstock (Beige), 4 ¼” x 11”, scored @ 5 ½”
Orange PP, 4” x 1 ¼”, 4” x 1 ¾” and 4” x 5 ¼”

Gamsol Magic

Anyone out there love magic...? Well, I do and the Gamsol Magic technique is just great and I love it! I happened to stumble onto this technique when doing a search on what more I could do with my colored pencils. Using premium colored pencils and Gamsol Odorless Mineral Spirits you can achieve wonderful colors and shading. I have almost abandoned my Copics (never never) for this technique. If you are looking for a cheaper way of achieving the same coloration you would get using Copics this might be the avenue for you! Here are some of the recent Gamsol technique cards I have done. ENJOY! (Stamps are from Stamping Bella - Lulu collection)

My New Love - Artistic Trading Cards (ATCs)

I have found a new passion for my creative juices... Altered Trading Cards (ATCs). These pocket sized works of art can contain many themes... they can be used as note cards... additions to scrapbook pages... gift tags... or just trade them... here are several I have worked on in the past couple of weeks... Enjoy!

Believe... In going Green?

I actually did this card for a sketch challenge... I always take pictures of the cards, but never the inserts I make for a lot of my cards. When creating and sending out cards, I make decorative note cards to write on in case you want to "recycle" the card and send it to someone else... this idea came from my mom when I used to send her cards and she was mad because I did not send two because she wanted to send the card to someone else, but I had already written on the inside to her... so... I granted her wish and now I send 2 or 3 decorative note cards that fit in the card so the card can be used again... and again... and again... So my motto for this installment is ~ Go Green ~ Enjoy!

Happy Fathers Day!

I normally don't do Father's Day related things, but this is the CUTEST pattern I have ever seen for a manly card. Once I made one, I could not stop! Sorry for the blur, but I am still using my cell phone camera to capture images until I get a new camera from the one that was stolen a couple weeks ago.

Enjoy...!

Posting Delay

Hello all, and thanks for following my blog. There will be a delay in posting some of my work since while away at my mother's house visiting my car was broken into the night before I was leaving (of course after I packed the car so my daughter and I could leave at 3 am) my car was broken into and all my stuff stolen out of the car. So I am minus my DD DVD player, my cameras, video camera, GPS and MP3 player and other things that were packed in my car ready to go. So please, bare with me for a couple more days until I can get things settled and get my work back online... Thanks, Shonna

I did manage to borrow a friend's camera for one night and take a couple shots of some cards I have made for a card sketch challenge.... Here they are....

Altered Folder Mini Album

This project was a bit more challenging than I expected... but I love the results!~
These pictures are from my DD 2nd birthday party... she loved dressing up as a princess. I put the journaling on the back of her tab insert cards. This was fun to make...! Here is a link to the tutorial!

Altered CDs

Here is the link to the site that explains how to alter a CD... this is a GREAT project... Loved doing it!Shonna :)

Here are my version of the instructions from how I made my altered CD...
My altered CD...

Materials used:

Used CD

Ribbons

Petaloo Flowers (cut in half)

Prima Flowers

3 Birds Scrapaganza Paper

3 Birds Scrapaganza glitter chip board

3 Birds Scrapaganza chip board

Adhesive pearls

Decopauge - Plaid Mod Podge Gloss Lustre

Hot Glue

Glue Dots (mini and craft size)

Crop O Dile (hand held)

First I covered the CD with the Mod Podge on side one and put the patterned paper on... I prefer to use patterned paper rather than cardstock because it will soak up the Mod Podge faster and also dry faster. I did the same to side two. Then let the CD set for 10 mins. and then trim the edges.

Then I put a layer of Mod Podge on top of the pattern paper on side one and let dry. If you use a thin layer it dries pretty fast. Then I did my LO on top after the mod podge dried. Then after laying my picture, ribbon and pearls (there are pearls under the flowers, I completed the total frame of the picture), I put another layer of Mod Podge on the entire surface, covering the picture and the ribbon. This application was thicker than the first. I do this to protect the picture etc. since these won't be put in an album - most of the time - and will be out on a table or hanging...

After this dries is when I put the flowers and chipboard elements on.
I used a mixture of hot glue for big flower and glue dots for the smaller elements.

For her name I typed that on the computer on cardstock and printed that out and edged it with green ink...

For the back I did not put an additional layer of Mod Podge over my journaling... (thinking maybe I should have) but that is up to you...
I printed that out off the computer and then trimmed away to fit over a bit so I could use the flowers on the side.

To make the whole I used my handy dandy Crop O Dile... LOVE THAT TOOL... cut a hole through that CD like a hot knife through butta...!!! :)

Hope you enjoy making this project as much as I did!!
